Received the higher education in operations research at Bratislava Economic university and his PHD degree at the Plekhanov Institute of National Economy in Moscow. The great part of his working carrier he worked with university institutions in Czechoslovakia and later with universities in Czech and Slovak Republics (Prague, Brno, Bratislava and Nitra).
His academic interests are related mostly to statistics and its application in data processing in social and economics science. Also, he has long lasting interest in data mining and data quality.
He has also broad international experience with higher education institutions as visiting professor and visiting scholar at Ghana University in Accra, University of Delaware, Cornell University, Texax A&M University, University of West Virginia and Purdue University.
He has established active contacts and cooperation with several international institutions. The most important was his position Food and agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN in Rome, where he worked as director of the Statistics Division. In this position he participated in various program in developing countries oriented on building their national statistical facilities.
For some period, he worked also as a member of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC).
